International Women’s Day: A thank you letter

For International Women’s Day 2024, we wanted to write a thank you letter to all the women we look up to, and who inspire our collective by bravely pushing change in our systems every day.

📽 🕊 Thank you Bisan Owda, filmmaker and journalist from Gaza, for bravely and relentlessly documenting the horrors happening in Palestine, despite facing them directly yourself too.

🌿 Thank you Nina and Helena Gualinga, for your resilient activism for indigenous and environmental rights, and for being visible voices against extractivism.

💭 Thank you Phoebe Tickell, for your inspiring work around imagination activism that has been affirming to us of the power of imagination for creating change.

🐞 Thank you queer feminist Donna Haraway, and animal philosophist Elisa Aaltola, for both opening conversations about the way we are endlessly interconnected with all the other species and creating grounds for advancing their rights.

🎤 Thank you Petra Laiti, for all your continuous work in advancing Sámi rights and climate justice. We look up to the courage you are facing resistance and hardship.

🌀🔭 Thank you Monika Bielskyte for your work in expanding Protopian futures that are radically hopeful and inclusive regarding marginalized voices. You are empowering by highlighting neurodivergent perspectives as important in creating better futures for everyone.

📖 Thank you Maya Angelou for your profound words that have guided the path of many. Your legacy of resilience and compassion continues to inspire generations.

⚖ Thank you María Elena Rios, for your relentless fight for women’s rights, despite of your and your family's lives being at risk. You are an example of resilience in the Mexican feminist movement and the attempts to raise awareness of the violence women experience in the country.

Happy International Women's Day! 🌟
