We will be holding a gentle and nourishing space to sense and reflect on where we find ourselves this Spring Equinox, and to recenter and reorient together with both human and more-than-human kin. There will be the opportunity to engage offline and offscreen in ways that are accessible for you.
We intend to honour the seasonal and energetic shifts within our geographies, communities and lives that may be experienced at this moment.
We’ll be inspired by artistic stimulus on miro, the nature around us and the balance of light and dark at Equinox to seek deeper insight around a topic of inquiry that you bring or define in the session. This is a time that brings the return of longer days for many, as well as a moment when daylight and darkness are at equilibrium in many places across both the Southern and Northern Hemispheres.
Loose agenda for the session (all activities optional):
Part 1: Welcome and opening the inquiry (1 hr)
- 20 mins: Welcome and check-in
- 10 mins: Meditation and grounding
- 5 mins: Defining your inquiry - solo journaling / reflection
- 15 mins: Communal co-inquiry to develop our focus
Part 2: Nature immersion and communal integration (1 hr)
- 30 mins: Engaging with the more-than-human in and beyond us
- 20 mins: Return check-in and integration with group
- 10 mins: Closing feedback and check-out
We’re aware that folks drawn to climate and social impact work and those most impacted by oppression often feel the weight, harms and griefs of late stage capitalism and world events deeply. How might we bring joy and lighten our heavy hearts to support our unique journeys of resistance? We hope this space will offer a small oasis of communal care and nourishment in the face of whatever you may be holding.
The session will be facilitated by Eloise Smith-Foster, an anti-oppressive and trauma-informed facilitator, researcher and designer who has over a decade of experience holding space to support diverse groups. She is committed and known for holding compassionate, culturally sensitive and equity-centred spaces where active listening is prioritised.
We appreciate that everyone will enter the space with different identities, needs and energy levels. Please consider every activity an optional invitation and feel welcome to engage in whatever way feels comfortable for you.
This will be accessible from anywhere —combining remote, small group discussions with offline, self-guided nature connection in ways that are accessible for you in your context (e.g. your garden, park, houseplants, view of the sky).
We hope to see you there!
